In talking about the knitwear factory that was established in Kilkeel by his grandparents Kurt and Edith Sekules and later run by his father Walter. Richard showed an 80 year old jersey that had been created by his grandmother in the ‘Enemy Alien’ detention camp in Kazakhstan from Japanese Airmen’s silk undergarments and which is still as good as new.
This formed part of an exhibition at the Newry and Mourne Museum and Richard not only displayed it and told the history, but put it on.
